This process poster was developed through a collaborative exchange between the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. My Korean partner and I exchanged culturally specific topics to research and visually interpret for an audience unfamiliar with each other’s culture. I was tasked with exploring how a sageuk, or Korean historical drama, is produced.
I used bitmap techniques to create textured imagery and worked within the project’s restricted palette of orange and grayscale. Rather than following a strictly linear sequence, I developed a more freeform visual map to represent the different stages and interconnected elements involved in producing a historical drama.
I also incorporated Mr. Sunshine, a popular drama series, both as a visual and contextual reference to bring the process to life.
This project challenged me to translate a complex cultural process into an organized visual system while balancing research, information hierarchy, and visual experimentation.
