Gridiron Invasion2025

Knoxville, TN
2025
When author Katie Taylor contacted the UT Press about her new novel, my design class was tasked with developing the book cover for Gridiron Invasion, which explores women’s presence in American football.

For my interpretation, I used a cartoon from the provided book materials depicting a woman carrying a football as the focal point. Originally created to mock women in the sport, I recreated and colored the illustration to portray her as powerful and confident, emerging through the title to reflect the idea of women “invading” a traditionally male-dominated space. I extended the visual direction to the table of contents and opening chapter, developing a cohesive design system throughout the book.
